In order to increase awareness and donations for this child abuse prevention agency, Estey-Hoover created a promotional "stunt" resulting in two weeks of extensive radio and newspaper coverage. Estey-Hoover principal, Dan Hoover, drove an original Model A Ford from the border of Mexico across the border of Canada and back in two weeks. The car was a "billboard" for the prevention of child abuse. COPES personnel and volunteers raised funds pledged for a per mile driven basis. The send off speaker was the mayor of Irvine. Pre-event radio coverage resulted in other Model A cars showing up to pace the beginning of the trip. In-progress press was achieved in cities visited.
